Lead capture for construction and building materials sales teams

Building materials are sold on construction sites, in consultants' offices and showrooms, and at the big construction shows. SEL XP records who your rep met, which products they asked about and what was promised, sends the right catalogue, and puts the lead in your CRM within a minute.

On customer sites

Who your team visits
Contractors' procurement managers and site engineers, consultants and specifiers, developers' project teams, and traders.
What a visit is for
A sample, a data sheet and approvals, a price for a bill of quantities, a mock-up on site and a delivery date.
How the week runs
Several sites and offices a day. One project is visited many times between specification and order.

At exhibitions

Who comes to the stand
Contractor procurement managers, consultants and specifiers, developers, and many traders and distributors from the Gulf, Africa and South Asia.
What they ask for
A catalogue, a price list or a quote against a bill of quantities, samples, technical submittals, minimum order and lead time, distributor terms.
How long a deal takes
Weeks for stock and trading orders. 3 to 12 months when a product has to be specified into a project.

The problem

What goes wrong between the meeting and the sale

  1. 01

Two kinds of buyer, one pile of cards

A trader wants a price today. A consultant will specify you into a tower that breaks ground next year. In a stack of cards they look the same.

  2. 02

    Samples promised, samples forgotten

Forty people were told a sample would follow. Nobody wrote down which finish, or who would send it.

  3. 03

Six sites in a day, one notebook

A rep sees a contractor, a consultant and a site engineer before lunch. By the evening the promises have blurred and the cards are in the car.

  4. 04

Nobody can say what the show produced

The stand cost a great deal. A month later the only number anyone has is how many cards came back.

How SEL XP fits

Built for the way construction teams sell

  • Sorted as you capture

Role, timeline and product interest take three taps. The score separates the project that needs a specification from the trader who wants a price.

  • Batch scan after the rush

Photograph the whole stack in a minute. The cards wait in a queue, already read, for you to add what you remember.

  • Every promise is a task

Send a sample, send a submittal, quote the bill of quantities: each has an owner and a date, and the manager sees what is overdue.

  • Project team or distribution team

A manager hands project leads to one team and trading leads to another, or splits a batch evenly across a team.

  • A number for the show

Leads against target, qualified leads, pipeline by currency and time to first follow-up, with leads by day and by person.

  • Arabic and English cards

Cards printed in Arabic, English or both are read as they are, and the follow-up goes in the language you choose.

The evening handover

The manager's phone shows the day by team. Project leads go to one team and trade leads to the other, each to whoever has the fewest open.

What your team does, and when

  1. Before

Set targets for leads, qualified leads and pipeline. Load catalogues by product range. Agree who takes project leads and who takes trade.

  2. On the stand

Scan and tap in the quiet moments, batch scan after the rush. Set a task for every sample and submittal you promise.

  3. Each evening

Hand the day's project leads to the specification team. Check who has hot leads with no follow-up.

  4. The week after

Work the task list: samples out, quotes sent. Export the list for the review meeting.

Questions

Construction and building materials: what teams ask

Does it work on construction sites?

Yes. A rep on site scans a card or types a name and a number, chooses Site visit as how they met, taps the products asked about and sets the next step, such as sending a sample. Sites often have no signal, so the lead is saved on the phone and sent when the signal returns.

How do I separate serious buyers from brochure collectors at a construction show?

Qualify at the moment of capture. In SEL XP the rep taps the visitor's role, what they asked about, when they need it and whether they asked for a quotation. The score sorts leads into hot, warm and cold, and the profile shows why.

Can it handle hundreds of cards a day?

Yes. Batch scan keeps the camera open so you can photograph card after card. Each one is read in the background and waits in a review queue with its fields filled in.

How do we make sure promised samples are sent?

Each promise becomes a task on the lead, with an owner and a due date. It shows on the rep's Today screen, the manager sees overdue tasks for the team, and with Odoo connected it becomes an Odoo to-do.
